ANNUAL REPORT ON MEASURES TO PROTECT
THE IDENTITIES OF COVERT AGENTS
The Intelligence Identities Protection Act of 1982 stands
as a positive statement regarding the concerns of Congress
about the protection of the identities of the men and women in
the U.S. Intelligence Community who work at the craft of
intelligence, and of the individuals (many at the risk of
arrest) who cooperate covertly with the United States in the
conduct of foreign intelligence operations. This Act, along
with the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA), provides
the Department of Justice with a framework to deal with the
problem of deliberate exposures of classified identities
information.
