Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/11/25: CIA-RDP92T00277R000200090008-8 MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS 02139 E38-634 April 3, 1984 Mr. Julian C. Nall National Intelligence Council Central Intelligence Agency Washington, D. C. 20505 Dear Julian: The project you describe is indeed interesting, but also challenging since meaningful results are hardly assured. Regarding scientific areas, I was surprised you did not include some areas relating to the material sciences--perhaps some topics in theo- retical mechanics where a great deal is published. I expect it will be hard to get people to help who SI-AT are both available, broadly knowledgeable and have good perspective. Of those on your list so far I can get most enthusiastic about SI-AT , but I would be surprised if you can get either one to commit the amount of time you want. I think the track you and are on--going after a scientist who is about to retire SI-AT from an active position--is a good one. Why not ask Frank Press for suggestions? I'll try to think of people?Tiiy177-------- Good luck. Sincerely yours, Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/11/25: CIA-RDP92T00277R000200090008-8 STAT
