Action Requested: Accreditation of the President's - Emergency Operations Center's Automated Information System (AIS) for the processing.of intelligence-in !the DEDICATED mode of operation. The system processes: TOP:BECRET Sensitive Compartmented Information. 2. Background: In August 1988, the United-States Secret-- Service requested that the Office of Security -initiate the formal accreditation-process for the-compute7r.system operated by the White House Military Office, Office of Emergency Operations. DCID 1/16, signed by the- DDCI on 19 July 1988, identifies the National Foreign Intelligence-Board -(NFIB) members as Principal Accrediting Authorities =for all ALS and networks processing intelligence. _J., written computer security plan for the system has been provided by the White House Military Office and has been reviewed by the Office of Security, Information Security Group (ISG). Chief/ISG has certified that the system is in conformance with DCID 1/16 for the DEDICATED mode of operatipn..ard that the system risk has been appropriately assessed. 3. Recommendation: It is recommended that you sign and forward the attached document to the Director, White House Military Office. Accreditation Approval: Effective this date, approval is granted to the White House Military Office, Office of Emergency Operations (WHM0/0E0) to operate their VAX 8350 System located in area 2-10 of shelter, East Wing, The White House, as described in their computer security plan, in the DEDICATED mode of operation for the processing of TOP SECRET Sensitive Compartmented Information. 2. Limitations: The WHM0/0E0 shall adhere to the Director of Central Intelligence Directive (DCID 1/16), Security Policy for Uniform Protection of Intelligence Processed in Automated Information Systems and Networks, dated 19 July 1988 and WHMO's The President's Emergency Operations Center Computer Security Plan, dated 10 July 1989. 3. Expiration: This accreditation shall remain in effect for a period of five years. Major changes to the approved processing configuration during this five-year period (e.g. changes in user population, data types processed, connectivity, or threat environment) shall be submitted, in writing, to the Agency's Information Security Group (ISG) to determine whether a formal reaccreditation of the system is required.
