De-classified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2014/02/06: CIA-RDP93B00099R000700090032-1 PAO 10 (PA) DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING CENTER / GLYNCO, GEORGIA 31524 Director of Security Central Intelligence Agency Washington, DC 20505 Dear February 21, 196':1 The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center has established a memorial to those graduates of our basic training programs who have been killed or passed away as a direct result of injuries received in the line of duty. The memorial recognizing and honoring those graduates who have made the ultimate sacrifice, is a simple marble plaque containing the name, date of death, and employing organization of the deceased. This plaque was unveiled in May 1986 on Peace Officers Memorial Day at a ceremony attended by several hundred Federal, State and local law enforcement officers. We update this plaque annually, so we wish to add the names, date of death, and agency for any employees of your organization who have died in the line of duty between January 1 - December 31, 1988. This information will be cross referenced with our student records and reviewed by an interagency committee to ensure the circumstances are compatible with the memorial objectives. At the conclusion of the review, the appropriate individual name(s) will be inscribed on the plaque. The FLETC memorial is not intended to replace the prerogative of your organization as the primary source to recognize your employees. To the contrary, the memorial at ,Glynco should be viewed as an additional site of remembrance where thousands of their peers may pay tribute in a befitting setting. The criteria for the inclusion of names on the memorial are: 1. graduate of a basic training program offered by the FLETC since July 1, 1970; 2. death in the performance of official duty as determined by the employing organization; and STAT STAT 3. nomination for inclusion recommended by an interagency committee at FLETC, and approved by the Director.
