Approved For Releaqw2002/06/24: CIA-RDP93B01194R001QP240029-4 30 August 1979 Classification Review Procedure Rescinds: CRP 79-19 USE OF REGISTRY NUMBER AS THE DOCUMENT NUMBER 1. In March of this year CRP 79-19 was issued authorizing reviewers to use a registry number (under certain circumstances) in the absence of a document number, a practice that r_qviewers had been following for some months. It has been decided that this is not a sound practice because of the difficulty in determining the correct registry number and the uncer- tainty that it appears on all copies of the document. 2. The use of a registry number in the document identification number field is discontinued as of this date. Reviewers will use only the unique identification number of the document copied exactly as it appears. The only exceptions to this rule are spelled out in CRP 79-24, which provides for a special indicator for codeword material, and CRP 79-37, which concerns handwritten numbers.
