1, Job 69-59 of the OSS permanent records consists of 161 boxes each
containing about 2,250 reference cards. These cards were made to serve as an
index to correspondence going to and from OSS Ileadcluartex?s in Washington. The
system was establis}zed by subject ma.tt.er and covers coxresparadence during the
period 1942-47. Infoz~rration put on the reference cards may include the document
r~untber i.f any, date of th.e docwnent., names of addressees, and a brief description
of what the dacwnent is about. 'IT~ese boxes pxesent us with some special prob"I-ems:
neither the box nor t}re individual reference card has been indexed to the OSS
file system; the cards are not marked with a classification; a small percentage
of the cards requires protection usually because they identify a source or
foxeil;~rr liaison official; and another small percentage of the cards was originated

4. The OSS Team will be responsible to-order boxes of Job 69-59 and for
returning them to the Records Center. When. a CRI.) reviewer wants a box to review,
obtain it from the OSS Team or from the Operations Branch if stared there, and

5. CTZD reviewers are not expected to wark on this OSS material full time,

in place of our regular systematic review. One reviewer should complete a box
