Subj: Strategic Warning Staff
Encl: (1) Draft Request
1. At a recent Military Intelligence Board meeting you
discussed the lack of Service participation on the Stra-
tegic Warning Staff and requested that the Services con-
sider filling the unoccupied billets. Liaison by my
staff indicated a requirement for a major/lieutenant
colonel with expertise on the Far East (particularly
North Korea.)
2. I believe that Marine participation would be beneficial
to the SWS and useful to the Marine Corps. A formal request
from DIA will be required. Enclosure (1) is a draft letter
and is provided for your consideration. Unfortunately, I
cannot predict what the final HQMC decision will be to such
a request, but am prepared to support it.
