LOGNOTE -- Chief, Operations Group, 6 June 1985
1. I Following from this morning's staff meeting:

- Question was raised about the asbestos problem in Mbabane. I
said we were sending samples to OSHA. ED should update me on
this.
There is a rep. from each directorate. Sounds like a long and
has formed a group to look into secretarial payscales.
- DDS$T has been talking with D/Pers about using outside consulting
firms to classify positions rather than PMCD. A list of five
companies has been proposed to D/Pers. This is largely to
improve engineering grades.
- D/FBIS would prefer not to have a reception or party for the
summer only's. Last couple receptions were very tepid. Groups,
or better yet, divisions should plan some sort of get-together
for their summer only's. OTE apparently is taking theirs to
Georgetown for beer and pizza.
- SDS reports they will meet the deadline (17 June) for their
final recommendation on the Modernization Design.

- I reported on the Baker PCS delay, adding the AFP world service
in the Wire, the final hookup of VCVC-2 and the Philippines
initiative.
