1. I DOMESTIC BUREAU--Met with Chief of the PDB
Sta and Soviet Analyst, to explain that we are considering
establishing a domestic bureau in FY-85 and to get his views on
whether DDI would benefit from such a bureau. I explained the
benefits of a domestic bureau, including the availabilit of Soviet
TV in real time and a viewing room for analysts. said the
DDI would obviously benefit from such an installation. Anything,
he said, which brings important items to analysts faster or in
more complete form is of benefit to the DDI. said that
although PDB analysts would probably not derive any direct benefit
from live Soviet TV, he felt SOYA and the Agency TV center would
find it very useful.
