UNCLASSIFIED ORD-0564-84 4 May 1984 MEMORANDUM FOR: Distribution FROM SUBJECT RECON/Guard Program Manager Information Systems Research Division Processing and Analysis Technology Group Office of Research and Development RECON/Guard Program: Status Report 9 April 1984 REFERENCES 1. ORD-0104-84 dtd 16 January 1984 ? ? 2. Memorandum of Understanding, COINS-PMO/CIA dtd 3 June 1983 (Attachment F) 1. The RECON/Guard System prototype is now available for full Government Confidence Testing and Operational Evaluation. The Guard System resides in the and is also accessible from the Office of Central Reference (OCR) area, GH44 Hqs., as discussed in Reference 1. OCR maintains the RECON database and the RECON-Test database, the latter of which is being used for the Guard program. 2. The previous two weeks were spent completing the final major debugging of the Guard System (all variants) and the OCR RECON-test database. During this period, the Guard System security function (no unauthorized data release) was maintained under all encountered error conditions. The remaining primary activities of the RECON/ Guard program will involve operational and security evaluations of the Guard System. These evaluations will be conducted by OCR and OS/ISSG respectively under the guidance of the J. P. Anderson Co. (the RECON/Guard program advisor). If the COINS network Host Access System (HAS) becomes available during this final evaluation phase, the HAS will be incorporated into the Guard System evaluation effort with the Guard Test System (GTS) emulating the OCR RECON-Test database. The GTS, which can emulate the HAS and/or the OCR RECON-Test database, is being used in the HAS emulation mode at this time. This mode will be sufficient for the RECON/Guard program requirements.
