SUBJECT: Reporting Unauthorized Disclosures to
Information Security Oversight Office (IS00)
1. The following information is provided to you to fulfill
the Agency's reporting requirement to the Information Security
Oversight office for an unclassified report giving the number
of unauthorized disclosures referred to the Department of
Justice.
2. This report will cover the reporting period 1 April
through 30 September 1987.
3. Twelve cases were reported to the Department of Justice
during this time on an individual basis which were considered
major unauthorized disclosures. Of these 12 cases, 8 were
investigated by the FBI and closed, 3 are currently under
investigation and there has been no response on 1 case.
4. In addition to these individual re=ports, CIA also
submits to the DOJ reports of unauthorized disclosures on those
cases where the Office of Security conducted internal
investigations and determined that the intelligence disclosed
received extensive dissemination throughout the Intelligence
Community and no substantive leads were developed to narrow the
list of subjects. These reports and the number of cases were
sent on the following dates:

There has been no response from the Department concerning these
cases.
5. Also during this time period,. two cases involving
possible violations of the Identities Protection Act were
referred to the Department of Justice and are presently under
investigation.
