Approved For,,Release 2002/11/18 : CIA-RDP96-00787R000400100008-1 aw Iftf SG1I SG1I had received it from Dr. Steininger. The request for the addition of =to OST's contract with SRI to study paranormal activities has been denied by Mr. Colby. No further action is to be pursued. This message was relayed to us by who left the following message: 29 May 73 SG1I Spoke to of OST on this date. He had also just received the message and had little to add other than that SG1 B SG1I (DC/OST) had told him that Both S G11 Colby & Shlesinger had decided that, because of the publicity SRI & Swann & Geller had received, it would be too dangerous for the Agency to stay involved with them. Allegedly, their decision was not made on substantive issues & there may be some chance that research with and through other facilities might be favorably considered. S G11 I is going to call SRI today to let them know & I offered to call as well if he feels that it will be useful. There will be no continuation of their project, either; the irony is that by our kicking it over L-]we invoked the higher authority review.S G1 B S G11 I suggested to that we draft a memo up thru channels asking for substantive guidance in the whole area & he agreed to endorse it. SG1I Approved For Release 2002/11/18 : CIA-RDP96-00787R000400100008-1
