On target time is 1400 hours. All right #01 the time is now 1400 hours. Your mission for today is to go to the building in area A on the U.S. Embassy compound. 11 want you to search that building for hostages. If there are any hostages there I would like you to identify these hostages. PAUSE Relax, relax,.focus your attention. PAUSE +03 #01: See some kind of metal sculpture on the wall of a room on the ground floor. It's either a narrow sculpture or it's vertical, metal bars, sections of metal across window. It's like a...some kind of a galvanized steel bars, and square and flat and it's..uh..running parallel straight up and down on the windows. There's......... couple large wooden tables in this area, and there's books. Like library books or something all over the tables. Get a feeling if I..uh.. went in the front door into the corridor on the left it would take me to this room. I also get an impression that..uh..the reason I'm in this room is there are hostages in the room. There's..uh..no more than 5, 5 hostages, and..uh ..their all male hostages. There's some kind of a divider wall or the backs of very tall bookshelves down the center or to the left of center. They're not normally like that. I think they-they've been pushed that way. And, there's the backs of all the shelves except one facing the, the hostage containment area. . There's no furniture here. It's just like mattresses on the floor. Six mattresses on the floor, but only 5 are occupied. I see..uh..on Approved For Release 2000/08/07: CIA-RDP96-00788 0 8OQa80001..z8... There's clothing piled one side...two or three stacks of clothing, and..uh..some items on a shelf, center shelf, faces the hostages. There's like personal effects piled on the shelf. The room is a pale green. Let me see if I can see who they are. James H. something. One..uh..one person's name is Jim. Last name starts with an H. Short name. Less than 7 letters. Starts with an H. One of the..uh.. one of the guys looks alot like..uh..uh..very big, heavy set person. Not as heavy as he used to be. Looks like he's lost weight. But he's got a beard, and his..uh..his name is..uh..uh..Moorestead or Morestead, or something. Like that. Moorestead. There's..uh..somebody's first name Frank. I don't know his last name, but he's got..uh..apparantly 1 he got sandy hair, or light color hair with some gray in it. He's about 39-40 years old.. Maybe even 42, and..uh..got a...wears glasses. First name's Imo---Ail 5 of these guys are State Department. Have to wait a minute.....I'm trying to work ....Grand Central Station there. I just noticed the noise. Take me a minute to get it out of my head. There's a real clean, clean cut guy. Maybe 6-2. Late 40s, 48, 49. His hair is..uh.. a little bit long now, but..uh..keeps it very neat. He's got alot of folded skin around the nexk. Vertical lines on the neck. Gray eyes. Used to be ..uh..maybe 190 pounds. He's down about 165. Uh..very distinguished looking person. I keep looking for a name and Bob comes to mind, but I'm not sure that's him or the other guy. There's another guy there that's got..uh..sideburns.... and mustache run together. Well trimmed beard. I'm not sure if he's the Bob or it's the ..uh..tall guy's name is Bob. The last name is..uh..i know'the last name, I just can't translate it. Wait a minute. 2 Approved For Release 2 7~: -RDP96-00788R000800880001-8 Approved For Release 2000/0. /Q7. cI " '96-00788R000800880001-8 He...want....to say Clen...Clenny...Cli and then I see just the Cli and last part of the word has got double Ns in it...and...I don't know about this name. I'm not, I'm not getting anything else anymore. Keep looking for something to say what the room is and I keep coming up with horizontal bookshelves or ...uh....horizontal shelves with black notebooks, or something. Light green room.0h, wait a minute. This is like..uh..some kind of a public use room, e i s got a, go ird water fountain in it. is not a water fountain I see other tables that -tab-l-es; stacked in a corner. There's a couple sec it ons of those chairs that are like for waiting rooms. Where they're all bolted together in a row. Like 4 or 5 sections. Shoved against the wall on the other side of the divider. They're all bolted together like 6 chairs in a group. And I got the waiting room type ashtrays. The big, big white cylinder bowls of some sort with sand and gravel in it. Uh.... and you can see a, you can see a garden or something out of the window, and there's no flowers there now for some reason, but....normally a garden. You can see that. And there's..uh ...................this stuff on the tables looks like travel posters, or. something. Advertisements for travel. Like..uh..air travel brochures..... kind of scattered like they were part/ hostages. Some kind of advertisement. That's..uh.. that's really all I'm getting. It's kind of a bare room. . of the room before this.....this room was used for #14: Ok. You've described this room very well. I want you now to search the entire building looking for other hostages and report back. Approved For Release 2000/08/07 : CIA-RDP96-00788R000800880001-8 Approved For Release 2000/08/07 : CIA-RDP96-00788R000800880001-8 #01: There's a basement in this building. But, it's a small basement. Mostly ...uh...mostly storage. There's nobody in the basement. I'll look at the rest of the building. #01: I'm not getting anything else in this building. It's got an attic too. I never knew this building had an attic. There's an attic. There's...what I guess you would call a, a, call a third floor. I don't see any other hostages. #14: Ok. I have no further questions. #01: There's an odd number on the door to this room. It's like it ends in 9. It's a 2 digit number. I get the impression that it ends in a 9. Like 19 or 09 or 29 or something. Uh...just a fleeting impression. Also strong impression for the words black and white. That may be something to do that's synonymous with the room or over the hallway outside. Something about, as you go in the entrance to the room, the words black and white pop out for some reason. I don't know if it's got to do with actual colors, or some gestalic impression of the room, something in the hallway, but black and white means something. That's all I get. #14: Ready for debrief. #01: Ok. I'm going to give you as an accurate a picture of this room as I can give you. I felt like I was in .....I got a good description of the room. I felt I was really in it.- Maybe I was distracted by trying to figure out what the names were. Enough that my imagery of the room was extremely accurate. I don't know. Usually, when you're not looking right at something, you know, it comes across alot more accurate, or it feels more accurate. On page 1, I'll draw the room as I perceived it. I perceived it..... down the middle of this room were...uh..was a row of shelves of which all but 1, shelves....had the back turned towards the...you know their backs were turned towards the room...except for...I want to say shelves.. '=7 I X E. Approved For Release 2000/08/07 CIA-RDP96-00788R000800880001-8 Approved For Release 2000/08/07 : CIA-RDP96-00788R000800880001-8 That kind of affect. Then there was...uh... back wall of the room... this... this being the other wall on the right, right here was a dark object, and I don't know what it was. I ke't trying to see what it was and it kept fading in and out. But, it was made of wood, whatever it was. It was fairly tall. Six and ? feet tall. There was a.....mattress on the floor.....all the mattresses were on the floor. This one was laying here, like that, this one was laying here like this, this one was laying here like this. My drawing's getting terruble. This one was laying here, like that. And, then these last two were....... were out like this. And, you could just perceive the end of the table on this end of the room........ sort of like that. And, this table had....uh....books...... like...uh...stacks of books on it.. This kind of affect. You know. Just stacks of books. And, they looked something like library books. The back side of these shelves are-backside to the hostages, anyway....... on the, youknow, the other side away from the hostages had...uh...black notebooks. You know. Your 3-ring binder type notebooks, which I will give an example here. That kind of notebook. Many of them on the backside. I didn't sense any windows on the right. There was like clothes...... three or four stacks of clothes down here at the end of the......the area where the beds were. And there was personal effects on the shelves here that were facing the...these beds. I don't remember what the names are that I gave you, but I will label the beds that are occupied, and then the order I gave you the names, I went left to right around the room. So first name would be A then B then C and then D and then E. The only thing I remember is the guy with the beard was E. #14: Ok. That...uh...it appeared that you couldn't come up with a name for that individual. #01: Right. Uh......or his name was what I was calling D. D and E were confusing to me, for some reason. That's page 1. page 2. The windows that were on the left side of this room...if you perceive looking into this room the way I was looking, as in drawing 1, there were .......... looked like flat horizontal metal bars of some sort over the window, and it may be that this was some kind of a sculptured design because I got the impression that more of a sculpture than a security impression from these bars. But they were definitely inside and........... Approved For Release 2000/08/07 : CIA-RDP96-00788R000800880001-8 Approved For Release 2000/08/07 : CIA-RDP96-00788R000800880001-8 Rotten artist. But, they were flat. And, the window was behind these things. Maybe this was decoration or it may be that this wasn't a window. I don't know. But these metal, these flat metal bars were like an alloy. Like an aluminum alloy, or something. Like a rust proof type galvanized metal of some sort. And...uh...I felt like this was a window. Or, a look- through type thing. And, I guess that's all I can draw you. #14: No. Why don't you draw me a picture,of that weird drinking fountain? #01: Oh! Jese. Let me think a minute. Ok. #14: Did you say this fountain was located inside the room, itself? #01: It's in the room. I had a....a common area feeling when I saw the drinking fountain. Like .... this was some formal waiting room at one time, or reading room or study room, or something like that. Because, I also saw........ well, I'll split this page in half. On A side I'll do the water fountain thing and on B side I will do the ashtray thing. On A side I saw this really weird.....it was like a silver basin....... that was curved in like this, and there appeared to be a drain or hole at one end...... and out of this corner there was light thing.....came up real high and it curved..... like you would see in a dental office, or something. Like that. And, that you know, I recognize that that doesn't look like a water fountain to you, but I got the impression of water fountain when I saw, and yet, that's not a water fountain as I know it either. So it may be that I'm either missing, missing seeing something on this, or that is what is most impressive about it. I don't know. Ididn't get any feel for anything else around it. Just this basin with this thing. And, then the ashtrays were these.... like .... uh.....this kind of thing with..uh..sand in it. It's fairly large, white, molded plastic things. This kind of affect. There was four or five of 'em in there and they were probably ...uh..... 2 feet tall. That's in the room. That's about it. Good luck. #14: All right. End of session.
