Approved For Releas Minutes of the Meeting, DoD GRILL FLAME Committee 1. (U) Place: DIA/DT Conference Room, Pomponio Plaza. 2. (U) Time and Date: 0930 hours, 12 July 1979. 3. (U) Attendees: See enclosure. 4. (S/ORCON) The meeting began with an explanation of Dr. Vorona's S G1,k absence from the gathering. Dr. Vorona was briefin Congressman Rose S G1J on DoD efforts and interest in parapsychology, has returned to his position at the MIIA and has resume is position at the DIA and will attend the meetings on a regular basis. 5. (S/ORCON) Several members of the committee raised the question of the purpose of the committee and the possibility of the committee producing a product. While no general concensus was reached, the feeling of many members was that the committee serves as a point of contact between various agencies involved in exploring paranormal phenomenon and functions to coordinate these activities. 6. (S/ORCON) The possibility of the group preparing an ICR was raised. Dale Graff volunteered that he had already produced an ICR and would send copies to the members. 7. (S/ORCON) Several members of the group then raised the question of the relationship of the Steering Committee to the Working Group and the question of how the Steering Committee should be kept informed about the activities and progress of the group. It was related that each member bears the responsibility of keeping his respective member of the Steering Committee informed of the Working Group's activities. 8. (C/ORCON) It was suggested that the group might compile a registry of scientists doing parapsychology research. 9. (C/ORCON) The use of computer terminals to exchange data was raised. DIAOLS and COINS were mentioned. 10. (C/ORCON) Another suggestion of a group project was to compile a complete registry of what each agency has done or is doing in the area. 11. (S/ORCON) Bill Stoner then discussed several briefings. gsArmy . Theiefincluded the Army briefing the SecDef, the Under Secretary Congressman Rose and Maj Stoner briefing the IC Staff. 15. (S/ORCON) Dr. Vorona arrived to attend the afternoon portion of the meeting. He reiterated that each member has the responsibility of informing his superior on the Steering Committee of the Working Group's activities. He agreed that more extensive minutes with a synopsis of the talks and presentations was a working goal and should be accomplished whenever possible. 16. (S/ORCON) Dr. Vorona then discussed his briefing Congressmen Rose and Young. They were primarily interested in the funding of such projects within the DoD. 17. (C/ORCON) A discussion was then held on sending contract researchers to report on international meetings and the extent to which this may involve a conflict of interest. 18. (C/ORCON) Dale Graff reported to the group that the Japanese student who effects photographic film is to visit.the US. 19. (C/ORCON) The use of technically trained vs. non-technically trained viewers was discussed. S G11 20.
