Approved For Release 2003/09/16 : CIA-RDP96-00791 R000100030042-9 SECRET SG1I SUBJECT: Star Gate: Potential Media Inquiry FROM: DATE: SG1I Dear SG1J SG1J parapsychological phenomena (mainly remote viewing) for intelligence collection, and is 0 As you are aware, ORD acting in response to a Congressionally Directed Action has been reviewing DIA's Star Gate Program. The program is currently classified at DIA in a LIMDIS compartment and has not yet been transferred. As you know, the program involves the use of therefore extremely interesting to the media. The current program manager at DIA, informed ORD that former DIA employees who performed remote viewing in this program are being contacted by ABC News "20/20" for an expose. The ABC News reporter is Janet Klein. has referred the inquiry to DIA public affiars. Since CIA has been asked by Congress to become involved in this program, there is some potential for CIA implication in the current program activity. CIA has also conducted similar program activity in the past (1972-1976), and this will the subject of a declassification review as soon as a suitable evaluation of the documentation can be made.
