Approved For Release 2000/08/10 : CIA-RDP96-00791 R000200030014-9 Minutes - Planning Meeting Star Gate Declassification 9 Set) ember 1995 Attendees: The meeting was held to discuss how to accomplish the review and declassification of the Star Gate program and related documentation in accordance with Congressional direction. The principal results of the discussion were: - Brief the Agency Review Panel (ARP) on the Congressional direction and obtain their approval to proceed as planned (subsequently arranged with SG1 I 51406 for 1330 hours on 9/28 in room 7D02). - Include in Management Plan to Congress the plan to expeditiously review and declassify the documentation (complete within 2-years) contingent upon the approval of Congress to use some of the billets and funds previously provided to accomplish this task. - Explore the possibility of having the National Archives implement the declassification of the documentation under funding and guidance S r 1 tided by CIA. greed that he would provide the leadership to accomplish the declassification if no other organization accepted the task but contingent upon the provision of the additional billets and funds noted above. SG1I offered the support of her group in responding to future FOIA requests. SG1I toted that the recent records management person assigned to ORD was not senior enough to lead this task and implied that ORD would need to assign someone from the ORD staff to be the lead person to impplement the declassification plan.
