SUBJECT: Funding Support for Satellite Channels
1. Attached is the document which we have prepared in
response to a request from Director,
Program and Budget Office, Intelligence Community Staff.
met with us several weeks ago to be briefed on the
Air Force's funding request for their Defense Satellite Communi-
cations System (DSCS) III Solid State Amplifier program. At the
time, he suggested this subject be surfaced as an "issue" before
the National Foreign Intelligence Council. You concurred in this
suggestion and asked that we route our reply through you.
2. It is our understanding that the DSCS III funding issue
is on the agenda of the upcoming 15-16 June Executive Committee
STAT meeting.
