REFERENCE: Your Memo, Same Subject, 8 May 1986
1. I spoke with about our representation on the
SDI sharing study. As you know, some of people have been
attending these meetings thus far.
2. has convinced me that it is important to have someone
attend who has some political savvy to watch out for your interests.
I propose teaming Operson from OSWR,
who is more than capable of providing the technical side. (Art, you
may recall, is General Walters' confidant on SDI matters.) With the two
of them, I believe we will be well represented for the study.

SUBJECT: Sharing SDI
1. John McTague, the acting White House Science Advisor,
called me about the White House directed study on how to go
about sharing SDI. He would like to have us name somebody to
work with that group. I would think it should be either somebody
that would designate, or perhaps or
perhaps both. The person should certainly have technical and
scientific competence.
2. At Dr. McTague's request, Lt. Col. Michael Randine
(General Abrahamson's office) and Lt. Col. Joseph Bailey will
be here on Monday, 12 May, at 1600 hours for a briefing in
preparation for an upcoming NSC meeting. I told McTague I would
have a recommendation to make to Colonel Bailey at that time.
