Declassified and Approved For Release 2012/01/17: CIA-RDP97M00518R000600740001-3 The Director of Central Intelligence Washington, D.C. 20505 000013 13 ODD NT I C National Intelligence Council MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Central Intelligence Gregory F. Treverton Vice Chairman for Estimates National Intelligence Council SUBJECT: Your Breakfast with the Intelligence Fellows 1. As you know, last summer's session was the first; I had the privilege of being their "dean." The aim was to take 40 of the Community's next generation of leaders (SIS 1s and 2s), and to give them a chance to know each other and to think about the future of their enterprise, provoked by a range of outsiders. "Intelligence an open society" was the theme. 2. They're not shy and will have plenty of questions. By way of a conversation-starter, in addition to any comments you have about the Fellows program, they'll be interested in your first thoughts about a range of questions: o how you see your job, your priorities; o the place of intelligence--and your own--in the new administration, given its foreign involvements but its domestic preoccupations; o prospects for the budget and the role, more generally, of congressional oversight; o anything you can say about structure and mission, along with the shape of the Community as it shrinks; o any special ways they can be helpful to you.
