CIA resilient,
acting chief says
Acting CIA Director Richard
Kerr told retired agents Saturday
that the agency is resilient and will.
survive recent criticism and allega-'
[ions of wrongdoing.
He made the remarks to veter-
ans of the CIA's predecessor
agency, the Office of Strategic Ser-
vices, aday after the CIA's former
chief of covert operations was in-
dicted on 10 counts of lying and ob-
structing justice.
Clair George, the No. 3 CIA of-
ficial from 1984 to 1987, was in-
dicted Friday by a federal grand
jury impaneled by Iran-Contra spe-
cial prosecutor Lawrence E. Walsh.
