1. The long Chinese silence on the date for my visit begins tra
border on the discourteous, especially since we requested an early
reply in view of my already tight schedule in September.
I wonder whether if we have heard nothing by early next week,
it would not be appropriate to inform them that September is no
longer a convenient period and that they should propose a later date
when they would consider that discussions would be useful.
