Upon receipt of your concurrence, back channel on
holiday truces and cease-fire was dispatched to Ambassador
Bunker.
Because of the importance of the NSC meeting on the
Middle East and the fact that both you and Secretary Laird
would be in Europe, I took the liberty of suggesting to the .resident
that on second thought so important a matter should not be dis-
cussed in your absence. The President agreed and the Middle
Easb NSC meeting has now been rescheduled for W ednesday,
December 10.
