Report on Cambodia
Effective immediately the report on Cambodia requested by my
memorandum of June 20 will no longer be required. Instead, the
President has requested a weekly report which includes military
assistance deliveries for the previous week. Deliveries should be
reported in principal categories such as small arms, crew-served
weapons, vehicles, communications equipment - radios, small
arms ammunition and crew-served weapons ammunition. The report
also should briefly summarize other actions of particular significance.
These should include third country military forces in support of
Cambodia, other third country assistance, and diplomatic steps which
may have been taken.
.
1970.
The report should be kept on a close-hold basis and delivered directly
to my office by close of business each Friday, commencing August 14,

The President has asked that we discontinue the biweekly report entitled,
Actions on Cambodia. He has asked instead for a weekly report which lists
only the amount of equipment, ammunition, weapons, etc. that have been
shipped to Cambodia for the previous week. The report should also contain
a very brief summary of other actions which are of sufficient significance
to be of Presidential interest. In short, what the President would like to
have is a very brief weekly update of significant assistance to Cambodia
covering the period of the entire week. I think based on this modified
Presidential requirement that we should revise the daily report system
currently levied on the bureaucracy and merely ask for a weekly report
which covers new items for the previous week. I believe if we had this
report by the close of business each Friday we could then prepare it for
the President for the opening of business each Monday morning. I will
leave this up to you -based on your own personal convenience and.estimate
of the best way to do it.
