SUBJECT: Cambodian Situath Report
Attached is a statistical update as of 8:00 p.m., EDT
May 26 The following are significant highlights:
-- Contaqts in Cambodia continue at a generally low
level.
-- Two significant caches have been discovered by ARVN
in Base Area 740. Within five hours of the discovery, the
caches had yielded more -than. _500 small.. arms., 100 crew-served.-
weapons and-40,000 pounds of rice. Preliminary estimates
from the field indicate that the quantity of munitions alone
will exceed 20 tons. The caches .also contained medical sup-
plies, two vehicles and other items of military equipment.
-- U.S. forces in Base Area 351 have discovered a large
munitions/weapons cache containing 100,000 machine gun rounds,
50,000 rifle grenades,.480 small rockets, and 14 flamethrowers.
