The President has directed that the East Asian and Pacific
Interdepartmental Group undertake a thorough review of U. S. policy
toward Laos.. The study should include full consideration of U. S.
objectives and policy options vis-a-vis Laos in the light of the
various courses of action which might be adopted by the Communists
in the area.
The study should be forwarded to the National Security Council
Review Group by October 24, 1969.
