1. have taken some preliminary measures in antic-
ipation of the need for intelligence support in the event of the
Presidential trip to Communist China, I have particularly
in mind, at this point, the requirements of the Secret Service
for information needed to provide the best possible protection
to the President. Within a few weeks, there will be available
to the community a detailed large-scale map of the City of
Peking.
2. .1 would appreciate any guidance you may be aide
to furnish me on the types of support we might be asked to
provide and the ground rules under which we should operate
in-terms of releasing information to the Secret Service.
