13. ) Immediately after talking to Chairman
Nedzi, Intelligence Subcommittee, House Armed Services Committee,
I called John Goldsmith, Senate Armed Services Committee staff, and told
him that the House Armed Services Committee had released General
Walters' statement. Goldsmith told me that the Senate Committee would
now release copies to the various requestors in the Senate.
14, Following a discussion with the Director,
General Walters, and Messrs. Colby, Walsh,- Carver, .Houston and I, Colby
called Senator Stuart Symington regarding the request, via Richard Moose
of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, for Sam Adams to appear
before the Senator's Subcommittee on Security Agreements and Commitments
Abroad, on Friday, 18 May 1973. The Senator agreed to make clear for the
record that Adams would not be speaking for the Agency, but merely in his
individual capacity. Colby also called attention to the security problems that
will arise if Adams appeared in open session.
15. OG C, and I met with
Ambassador Helms and provided him with some background material from
the files prior to his appearance before the Intelligence Operations Subcom-
mittee of Senate Appropriations Committee.
16. Lawrence Houston and I accompanied
the Director, General Walters and William Colby who appeared before the
Nedzi Subcommittee of House Armed Services on the Ellsberg matter.

17. Lawrence Houston and I met with Senator
Stuart Symington regarding the handling of some sensitive documents in the
possession of Senator Ervin's Select Committee on Presidential Campaign
Activities.
18. Betty Waller, in the office of Representative
Robert Steele, called to arrange a personnel interview for
I told her I would have to call her tomorrow and give her the time and date.
