Five officers Lnames unkno-;,1n7 are assign:;~d to the dump. These include the commanding officer, a major; political officer, a captain; and three lieutenants who serve as technical officers. The duxrrp contains four storage tanks, each partly under and partly above ground. Each has a dia- meter of six to eight meters, but I do not know their capacities. 'ee Enclosure (B) for a sketch of the POL Depot in Radebeul-West) Class V (Am..cn:ition ) A Class V depot is located about 251:m north of Dresden; I do not know the exact location. 3. I know of no plans concerning the movement of Soviet supply points toward the west in the event of hostilities or prior to hostile action. 4. Line units have a 10-day supply of emergency field. rations .(Neprikosnovennye Zapasy - emergency stocks) to be used. in the event of hostilities. In addition to these emer- gency rations, each soldier has on allowance of twc days combat rations which are in the custody of the unit first s(I-rgeant. In the event of an alert, the 10-day supply of combat rations is loaded on trucks. for movement, and the two-clay supply of combat rations is doled. out to individual soldiers. Unit first sergeants are also charged with the ammunition supply for their units. This supply includes 120 rounds of carbine ammunition for each soldier arniec.'t with a aar'bire and two 72-round drum magazine for each soldier armed with an SMG. In addition 200 rounds for each SMG are kept in a separate storage room. Each artillery piece has a, basic allotment of 600 rounds; in addition, 200 rounds for each piece ar' held in reserve in the artillery supply section of the unit.. The artillery supply section also has 12 thousand rounds of machine gun ammunition as the reserve per unit machino gun. I do not know the amour:, of machine gun ammunition kept in unit supply rooms. Each vehicle, in addition to a full tank, has two 150-liter cans of' gasoline -which are kept in reserve in the unit. Addi.tinnal,1y the automotive tna.i.nter,ar)ee nl.e.toon n reserve of 150 liters for not include the reserve tans Grain and flour are brought into the Soviet Zone of Germany from the USSR in fairly large quantities; there are insufficient supplies of these commodities in East Germany to meet the demands of the Soviet Army? All POL supplies are brought to the Soviet Zone of Germany from the USSR. The octane rating of East German gasoline is too low for the efficient operation of the US vehicles which constitute 80b of the Soviet Army motorization. (Of the h8 in my unit, only three Caere of Soviet LZIs7make, and the other 45 were of US manufacture.) All foodstuffs other than grain and flour are procured in Germany. Uniforms for both officers and enlisted men are also procured from German sources. 6. I cannot give percentages on the amounts of supplies comi~ig from specific areas. 7. I have never heard of any factories which make ammunition in the Soviet Zone of Germany. regiment had gas masks (marked L-2), chemical first-aid k:+?'-.s, portable flame throwers, and a portable decontamination device called RDP (Ruclulroi Degazl.tsionnyi Pribor). This is all the information I have on chemical warfare equipment or supplies in the Soviet Zone of Germany. The supplies I mentioned, except for the gas masks kept y individuals, are kept in the regimental supply rooms. Beyond th:.s, I know nothing about location of chemical warfare supplies and equipment.
