1. This memorandum is a final review and analysis of
Route 1045 over the Chinese Communist mainland made in
preparation of Mission C216C (250230Z November). It
is forwarded in compliance with this Office's responsibil-
ities set forth in Reference A.
2. A review of SAM, air and radar orders-of-battle for
the proposed route indicates that the threat to the IDEALIST
aircraft is the same as our previous analysis indicated
(Reference B). Three to four ChiCom defensive reactions
from interceptor aircraft can be expected.
3. Route 1045 does not pass within range of any known
operational SAM sites but these weapons are easily trans-
portable and a tendency to situate them at or near airfields
has been noted. Airfields at Nan Chang/Hsiang Tang (2826N/
11556E), Chu Hsien (2858N/11853 E), Ning Po (2955N/12134E),
Lu Chiao (2834N/12125E), Lien Cheng (2540N/11645E), and
Ching Chiang (2802N/11531E) lie along the proposed route.
