See airfield map (attached) for layout of runways, hangars support buildings, etc. En route supplements, High Altitude Approach and Departure Supplements for McCoy are readily available and should be consulted for Navigational aids, tower frequencies, approach control, etc. B. Radar surviellance at McCoy should be considered as fair only. Range is not considered fully effective beyond 50 NM. IV. Staff Communications A. Over the counter service utilizing the SAC Com Center will be used during the deployment. TSGT John Tierney is the NCOIC of the comcenter. D. Maj. Donald R. Wright is the Senior Communicator at McCoy, however he was not available for discussions during the survey. Ile will be briefed by the Wing Commander and should be contacted upon arrival. MSGT Owens is Major Wright's assistant and is also available for support arrangements. E. Telephone numbers for contacting Major Wright or Sgt. Tierney. 305-855-3210 Extension 8517 or 577 F. Major Wright will issue a letter of authorization for 25X1A the the comcenter. 25X1A v. communicator to pick up and deliver tapes to A. The North Hangar, Bldg 407 on the Map will be utilized for the article. Within the Hangar is a central cubicle, con- s true Led of concrete block and has two floors. There are 2 rooms on the second floor of the central cubicle which are exclusively for the use of the OL-19 detachment. We will share these r?oormr with the OL-19 personnel. Partitions for privacy will be erected. B. A fork lift has been reserved for 15 Sept., so that the communications equipment will not have to be carried up the steps. There is an 7' x 7' access doorway in the wall, which will be removed and all equipment will be forklifted into place. C. Power available in the spaces is 110/220/440, single and three phase, 60 cps . Adequate amperage available. URG equipment power can be tapped directly into the distribution panels. D. The 35' premax whip can be erected on the hangar roof. Access for the transmission line would be via the ventilator from the roof to the top of the office space, and then via a water pipe duct into the office space. The water pipe duct is much larger than the pipe so that fishing the co-ax through will be a simple matter. E. Ladders to the top of the central cubicle and the hangar roof are easily accessible and are in good repair. F. The Base commander has given assurances that 2X4 planking and sandbags for weighting the antenna base down will be made available. G. Attached is a conceptual sketch of the hangar in Plan and Front view illustrating the area selected for the CP/BW opera- tions room and the suggested manner for running the antenna lead. VI. MOBILE The OL-19 Commander has consented to share his UHF equipped mobile van with the proviso that OL-19 be given first priority whenever an operational launch is imminent. He was assured that the OL-19 article has mission priority at all times. VII OTHER CONSIDERATIONS A. Billeting will be made available on base for the comuiuni- ca Lions waLchr tannders. Motel are available approx. 8-10 miles Ir;cse. B. Car ren Lal Service iti avai'lable'. C. There is a 24 hour snack bar available on the flight line. Meals are available at the officers club until approx 2300 daily. D. Raingear should be brought as it rains a great deal in the Orlando area. E. Should one play golf and hit a ball into the rough, either forget it, or carry your best iron in the event you need to club a rattlesnake. F. A 2-drawer safe for use by commo will be made available by the Base Commander. G. Major Patton, OL-19 Commander can be reached at Area Code 305-855-3210 extension 8570.
