The class of 1953, which will enter servi.-e on .1. Nov 53, is
compose, : of 174,000 men, who will be as ataei as follows:,
81,000 to the infantry; 11, 000 to the ar # r,; l e:r.? V., of whom 5, ,000 will go
to the heavy artillery; 6,000 to the c avalr.y', c f whom 4,000 will go
to the motorized cavalry,; 22,000 to the armored force; 1+,000 to
te0.. -%l arms, of whom 5,000 to flame-tbrowerr and mining; 11, 000 to
the air force; 5,000 to the engineers; X1,000 to the medical department;
12,000 to the motto-mechanized units,; 6,000 to the political services;
3,000 to various other arms.
Eight P4 rce t of the total will be assigned to officer candidate schools,
11 % ,o noncommissioned officer schT)ols, It is expected that
50 % -)f the candidates in these schools Will make their promotion.
The number assigned to political service will, be at least doubled during.
the course of the year, after the examination of other conscripts by
officers of the political service,
