1. The enlargement of the Liuchou (N 21i-18, E 109-16) military airfield,
which began in March 1952, was completed in October. During June and
July approximately 30,000 laborers worked. on the field. The present
size of the field is not known exactly, but it is now larger than
Kiangwan Airfield in Shanghai. In September Soviet air force advisors
visited the field, which was surrounded with welcoming propaganda posters.
2. There is a factory approximately eight miles from Liuchou which manufactures
military trucks and armaments. About ten trucks made by this factory
took part in a parade held in Liuckiou in July.
