SVAZARM Airfield, Libereo
11 The Liberec Airfield is. situated midway along the Ostasov-Ruzodol road,
which forms its northern boundary. On the other sides are fields. The
airfield area is marked by red an white.stakes bent over at the tope
The airfield is about one kilometer long and 500 meters wide. On its
northeast side is an enclosed space with barracks and hangars.
2. When the Air Force left the airfield in spring 19539 the SVAZARU (Union
for Cooperation with the Army) took it over and in the following
summer glider and parachute training began.
39 SVAZARM training takes place at this field on Saturdays and Sundays
and irregularly on some afternoons during the'week,. About the same
amount of gliding as parachute training is being carried out. About
30 persons, of whom one-third are women, attend the training. Parachute
jumps are performed from small, low-winged planes flying at an altitude
of 500 meters, from which parachutists jump in pairs. Two aircraft
are used for 15- and 20-minute flights. Fifteen gliders are used for
gliding; these are towed by small aircraft, from which jumps are also
made. The gliders, about four at a time, usually remain in the air
about 20 minutes.
