Drafts have been completed for the adoption of the Basic Intelligence Course into two six-week periods. The first six weeks will emphasize principles and will be required for all new professional employees. The second will stress methods and will be required forme, professional personnel to be employed by the Offices under the DD/I and will be optional for those entering DD/A and Dp/p positions, 2. A decision has been reached between the Office of Training and the Near Eastern Division in SO on the planning of activitiem and provision of facilities for the covert training of thirty in- dividuals. The period of instruction will be two years and will include intensive language and area atudiea conducted in the United States and abroad. 3. After scent of training responsibilities in the field of investigative teeheiques, a provisional agreement was reached between OTR and OTS whereby a 3.phaeo emperative training program has been proposed. Sadie training in technical skills and the handling of technical devices would be given by OTS; inter- mediate training in the operational use of investigative techniques would be presented jointly hy OTR and OTS; and intensive advanced spesialised technical or operational training in this field would be sontacted by OTS and OTR respectively.
