MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: USIA Request to Use the Names of I.AG Subcommittees
in an Unclassified Memorandum
1. Mr. Eugene Cragg called me with the subject
request. He said that Loomis had asked Carroll and Carroll
in turn asked Cragg to see whether or not such use could be r
made of certain IAC Subcommittees.
2. As a result of my questions, Cragg advised me
that he knew nothing with respect to use of the memorandum of
even Loomis's intention in writing the memorandum. Con-
sequently, I advised Cragg that it would be impossible to give
him any recommendation or suggestion, except a negative reply,
in view of a complete lack of knowledge on how the intelligence
subcommittees were to be described, and recommended against
a similar approach to the secretaries of those subcommittees.
(Cragg indicated Loomis was interested in discussing in an
unclassified memorandum six or seven of the subcommittees,)
