SUBJECT: Moscow Conference for OSI Consultant
DATE: 10 October 1958
1. In accordance with your request we have tried finding a
conference to be held in Moscow which an OSI Consultant might attend
for delivery of a paper. The subject of the paper is to be in the
field of energy balances or the economics of atomic energy.
2. The only scheduled meeting which seems reasonably appropriate
is the Annual Conference on High. Energy Nuclear Physics, of the
International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, to be held in Moscow
in 1959, probably in June. There will be 300 participants, of which
150 will be from the USSR, 75 from the USA, and 75 from Europe. A
similar conference was held at Vienna in June 1958.
3. It is possible that this conference covers subject matter on
a more purely scientific plane than that indicated by the consultant's
proposed subject field, but it is the best we can come up with.
