Combating the, Communist efforts to weaken LBJ's stand In South Viet Nam is a touchy busine~s for the Administration. As the President said at his press conference last week, he welcomes "honest, forthright discussion" of his Viet Nam policy and he ects "diff rences of vie s " Th Pr sident know . exp e w e s e that such public debates are vital to a democracy ,j ASHINGTON: The latest intelligence reports to' reach the White'House indicate that Hanoi is confident the U. This, in his way, he is trying to do. ?~ Using.student demonstrations to influence gov-' erhment policy against the U.S. is a long-standing technique used successfully by the Communists in other countries; CIA reports have Indicated jLfLa hey Communists were behind The student riots in.lApa_n in 1960 which caused the government to call off a .projected trip by PresldentOsenhower, and the riots in Latin Amgrlca the year, before when Vice Prest- (dent Itichaxd Nixon ?was surrounded, ? jostled and? insulted.
