Services Committee staff, with regard to several constituent inquiries.
We are preparing suggested responses for Darden and will be back in
touch with him on Wednesday.

to Representative Silvio Conte, called by way of follow up to my conversation
with the Congressman about our willingness to brief him on the Pacification
Program. Tentative arrangements were made for Mr. Colby, Chief FE,
to meet with Mr. Conte on 5 June 1967.
3. At his request met with Representative Hale
Boggs (D., La.) and reviewed with him a telegram received by Mr. Boggs
,from Leonard L. Limes, Director of Publicity of the Republican Party of
Louisiana, concerning the Garrison investigation and support by Mr. Boggs
to insure that all appropriate information be provided by the Federal Govern-
ment. Mr. Boggs indicated that the matter of the telegram request to him
had received rather heavy press play in New Orleans. I briefed him on the
,matter of the subpoena and letter response to Judge Bagert and the fact that
,.we had no knowledge or association with Mr. Gordon Novel or his attorney.
In response to Mr. Boggs query, I advised that we had no knowledge of the
so-called five Cubans. Mr. Boggs was explicit that he had no intention
of putting the Agency on the spot in this matter. He requested, however,
that I review the various allegations made by Mr. Garrison and meet with
him later in the week. Mr. Boggs has not responded to the original Limes'
I telegram as yet.
