Only the Directorates can determine their need for copi s, which log .ca.lly should be based on the substance of the Information in the document and the assiguirent of action to be taken an the subject matter. No Agency-wide central point would have the exprertise to make this determination. 3. The Office of Logistics and the Recoxc1.4~ Administration Branch of the Support Services Staff should assist each Deputy Director in deter- mining the type of machine needed to achieve his record copying require ment. Assistance al, so could be provided in ?eorgaiilzing and perhaps relocating his copying facilities in copy centers to achieve maximum utilization and control of the machines: Such reorganization should reault in the con;solidatibu and reduction in the number of copy machines, which, in turn, would reduce the number of control points that have to-be administered. x. Each Deputy Director should spell out a specific program of control for the operation of his copy cer.ers. He should specify the approvals necessary for copy production end the reporting system of copies made.
