Approved For Release 2007/09/04: CIA-RDP80TO1471 R001000040016-1 U WJLhCJti\I u MISSION K-0938 26 JULY 1965 PAGES PAGE_j OF COPY_OF j CRUISE MISSILE LAUNCH SITE YU-LIN, CHINA 1- THIS AREA WAS OBSERVED AS EARLY AS DECEMBER 1943 AT WHICH TIME ONLY A ROAD PATTERN LEADING TO AN AREA IDENTIFIED AS A PROBABLE RADAR SITE WAS EVIDENT. 2-.COVERAGE PROVIDED BY 5 TALENT, 3 BLUE SPRINGS, AND AT LEAST 1 KH MISSION, REVEALED THIS AREA TO BE A COASTAL DEFENSE SITE. 4- DENTIFIES THIS AREA AS A CRUISE MISSILE LAUNCH SITE. IT IS LOCATED 3 NM SOUTHWEST OF YU-LIN AT 1811N 10929E. THE SITE CONSISTS OF TWO UNREVETTED LAUNCH POSITIONS, THE SOUTHERNMQST OF WHICH APPEARS TO BE OCCUPIED BY A PROBABLE CANVAS-COVERED LAUNCHER; 2 BUNKERED MISSILE-HOLD POSITIONS ADJACENT TO THE NORTHERN LAUNCH POSITION; AND 4 PROBABLE MISSILE-HOLD POSITIONS WEST OF THE SUPPORT AREA. A GUIDANCE RADAR, PROBABLY A SHEET BEND, IS LOCATED BETWEEN THE LAUNCH POSITIONS. A LARGE SUPPORT AREA, 1 NM WEST OF THE LAUNCH POSITIONS,. A LARGE AREA OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY IS EVIDENT SOUTH OF THE SUPPORT FACILITIES. 5- THE.CRUISE MISSILE LAUNCH SITE AT YU-LIN IS THE FOURTH OF ITS KIND TO BE IDENTIFIED IN CHINA. HOWEVER, IT IS THE FIRST SITE OBSERVED IN SOUTH CHINA. THE OTHER THREE ARE FOUND IN NORTH CHINA AT LU-TA, CHIN-HSI AND YEN-TAI.
