'fie first shelf contains extra tapes if needed. GEN1 will be the latest and GEN2 will be the oldest. Remove GFN2 from tape rack ,these will be the tapes used for back up Move GENT tape to GEN2 place in rack. Remove old labels on tapes to be used for back up. Insert write ring into tapes before mounting on servo. Labels should read as follows: FULL SYST]-N -R1V }SUP BLK SIZE = 12K REEL OF D.A7'E- 'fount Reel 1 on servo marked 1.M1. To mount tape on servo, thread tape on take up reel by following the diagram on the servo. After tape has been threaded, depress POWER switch on ,Pervo and depress the LOAD switch. After the tape is at load point the following lights should be on: (1) P01%'ER, (2) LOAD, and (3) ON-LINE. n Czar: fJ 0rCt~ rr~5u L PPIwrE R ), U!.)-Li'.' Now you are ready to load the attached card deck. Place backup cards into the hopper of the card reader, no blank cards should be preceeaing card deck. Depress "POWER" switch and depress "RESET" switch. Enter CR: on console and hit the RETURN KEY on console. This will start reading the cards and writing on Reel 1. 1%1)en the program has finished writing Reel 1 the program will rewind the tape back to load point, hit reset and rewind on servo, dismount reel I and mount reel 2. On the console the program .will be paused: BG : PLEASE AMOITN'T TAPE NUMBER 2 .BG: TASK PAUSED After Reel 2 is mounied (insure write ring is in) type on the console the following command: T BG;CO and hit the RE'I PN KEY This will continue the program. Repeat the above instruction for Reel 3 and so on. After this backup program has copied off all of the info, it will do a verify. This means that data on the input device (disc pack) and output device (mag tape) is verified. If the data does not verify, the non-verifying records from both 1files are output to the list device ()rinter)ialong with an error message. t ~(~% c. (~ ?:_ rai.. Message on console will be: .BG END OF TASK 0 Dismount tapes and store in cabinet in GENII slot. Save output from printer and store with tapes. This.. is done by hitting the ON/OFF LINE SWITCH on printer. Then hit TOP OF O,buntil paper can be removed. Then hit the ON/OFF LINE. Also attached is console listing of this job ran to completion without any errors. If MAG TAPE does not have a write ring, insert write ring and type T .RG;Co (hit REJURNN KEY) 2. If you get a tape parity error status 82 the program will pause. The program will have to be started from the beginning. Enter the following commands thru the console: T . BG ; CA (hit .RETURN KEY) MA DISC:,OFF Reload card deck and start from the beginning. Replace had tape with another tape and label bad tape as: BAD TAPE PLEASE CLEAN. 3. If any disc error occurs just leave system as is until someone from the Mensuration Section comes in on the next normal work day.
