Ruse and Vidin are border crossing railroad stations and transshipment ports on
the Danube River. Shipments consigned to these two towns may therefore have been
forwarded to their final destinatiofLs-bither by rail or ship. The shipments of
potassium sulphate and plate-"glass"ooinsigned to Bratislava, Czechoslovakia were
probably transloaded on- a Danube River ship and forwarded to Bulgaria. The 55
refrigerator cars consigned from Werdau to Ruse were new cars constructed by the
VEB Wagoonbau in Werdau and were presuii.ably-designed for the transportation of fish.
According to other information. theae.refrigerator cars have a carrying capacity of
15 toms each and can be used on axpress trains.' The other shipments of vehicles and
vehicle components Consisted o f encased buffers, produced by the VEB Wagoonbau in
Bautzen; about 3s550-bicycles produced-by"the VEB MIFA Bicycle Plant in Sangerhausen;
75 motorcycles produced by the VEB'MOtorenwerke, formerly the Bayerische ![otoren-
Werke B4,1), in Eisenach; and 61 motorcycles produced by the VEB Vehicle Plant,
former Simeon & Co., in Sun.. The motorcycles are believed to have been BMWs and
AWO-250s'with-a piston; disp1a6ement-of 250-cubic cm. each. Shipments from Hettstedt
to Ruse consisted of 75'ton6 of copper baands and about 129 tons of electrolytic
copper. Information-concerning diidde'copper imported from Hungary to Eastern
Germany and re-exported-after bean rocessed into electrolytic copper, was con-

period from 23 to 31 December 1951. The documents concerning the movement of
empty cars during the period from 1 to 22'December 1951 were not available. However,
