25X1 1. In 1949 or 19501 1 he village of Maratice, Just
25X1 southeast of Uherske Hradiste .4904N-1727E , an underground arma.
2 5X1 merit plant was to be constructed within the limits of this village, on
the east aide of the road from Uherske Hradiste to Bilovioe 4906N-1734EJ.
2. A textile factory, most probably a woolen weaving mill, was set up some-
time in 1950 in Stare Mesto .Z904N-172. This factory was called Buch-
lovan. The main building of the factory was oonst cted in 1949 by the
Fatra National Enterprise in Napajedla ~910N-1732 for production of
plastids, but before this production could begin, it was decided to set
up a textile factory there, and equipment for textile production was
transferred to it from some place in northeast Moravia. The main build-
was the only production building.

4. The Fatra National Enterprise in Napajedla was set up a few years before
the beginning of World War II and produced mostly gas masks.

25X1 these were plastic raincoats called Fatrofan. Artificial leather up-
holstery was also probably produced there for the new Czechoslovak four
axle railroad passenger care which were first set in operation in 1951.

Dr. (Thu) former general manager of the Fatra
Plant, told in 1950 that polyvinylehloride was among the
plastic raw materials used at the Fatra Plant. Fatra maintained'
close connections with the Research Institute of'the'Svit Plant
in aottwaldov. The Fatra Plant consisted of three five-story buildings
each about 80 x 20-m. in size. To of them were constructed sometime
between 1945 and-1948, and the third was constructed before World-
War II. In addition there was a small old building used as a
warehouse.

6. The armament plant-in Uhersky Brod 902N-17397 jrnax B. 1~ Point consisted of a- complex of buildings constructed to look
like noel dwelling houses. Thee plant dated from before World
War. II. Shortly after February 1948, Frantisek HRUSKA, who had
formerly held a position in the Pilsen Skoda-Works, was appointed
general manager of this--pl8.nt. In 1919 he asked the Svit Research
Institute in Gottwaldov to try to produce prototypes of nonmetal
shoulder plates for guns. The Research Institute produced some

armament plant in.Uhersky Brod.
The Svit.National Enterprise, Gottwaldov, Plant in Uhersky Brod
was a small machinery, production shop which became subordinate to
Svit in. early 1951'. During 1951 this plant produced some textile
machinery parts for the Kovosvit National Enterprise in.$eZIAGNO
Udti.,f923N-144227. This production stop ed in' the fall of 1951,
and some new . ro'duction'. was begun there . '
