1. On 10 October 1953, an octagonal concrete pillbox was under construction
on the Cavalry Hill northwest of the Ruzomberok (Q 50/C 99) railrced station
close to the chapel. The hill commanded the town area of Jtuzcimberok, the
railroad station,, the bridges over the Vsh River and a fairly long; section
of the Zilina (Q 50/0 92) - Kosice (R 49/E 3411 double-track rcil.road line.

2. Between 9 and 20 October 1953, military guards were repeatedly seen at tunnels
on the Zilina -. Ruzonberok double--track railroad line. They wore stc ade.rd
army uniforms with dark red epaulets and steel helmets. Temporary shelters with
telephone lines were at the entries and exits of the tunnel 2 kilometers west
of the Kralovany (Q 50/K cc) railroad station and at a tunnel 1.5 kiloreters
southeoutheast of tho, Strecno (Q 50/X 61) railroad station. '1 ree low vooden
buildings serving as military billets were at the northern entrance to the
tunnel near Strecno, on the east side of the railroad line and directly north
of the Vah River. Other billets guarded by sentries were in a two-~.tury
wooden building near the eastern exit of the tunnel near Yra1o-r ;r-,on the
south side of the railroad line.
3. On 10 October 1953, o SNB motorcycles patrols checked all vehicles on the
road along the railroad line between Kralovany and the eastern entrance to
the tunnel. They asked the men in the vehicles to get out for checking-
Corriment. A similar pillbox was on the castle in Trencia. It is believed
to _
that these pillboxes, are air observation hosts.
