1. Available on loan from the CIA Library are an illustrated booklet and a
descriptive letter dealing with the Leipzig Trade Fair which will be
held in Leipzig from 4 through 11 Mar 51,
2. Both pieces of descriptive literature are printed in English and con-
tain general comments on the exhibits which will be on display. The
Fair will be composed of a "Sample Fair for utility and consumer goods
and a Technical Fair for capital goods. The Technical Fair will be
divided into the following 16 branches: Machine-tools, wood working
machines, tool welding technics, textile machines, sewing machines,
machinery for te foodstuff and dainties industries, machines for the
refrigeration and chemical industries, power machines, equipment for
the mining and heavy includatrIer.,, gears, special machine fine mechanics,

Outlook to Leipzig
As usual, the Leipzig Spring Fair, 1951,
stands in the first rank of international
manifestations and will be organised,
on an 'international basis, as a Sample
Fair for utility and consumer goods
and a Technical Fair for capital goods,
machines and other technical products,
to be held from March 4, to 11.
The Sample Fair will comprise 21
branches: Illumination fittings, stamps,
books, office requisites and stationery,
chemical, pharmaceutical and cosme ti-
cal products, fancy goods and carved
articles, glassware, household utensils
(metal ware, knives and forks, wood
and basket ware, cutlery, household
machines, brushes, rubber ware, sundry
household utensils), industrial art, lea-
ther ware and traveler's requisites,
furniture, musical instruments, foods
and dainties, paper ware, pictures and
other printed products, porcelain, china,
stone- and earthenware, jewelry, clocks
and watches, shoes, toys, christmas-
tree decoration, festive articles, sport
articles, textile goods, clothing, adver-
tising and packing means.
The Technical Fair will be divid-
ed into the following 16 branches:
Machine-tools, wood-working machi-
nes, tools, welding technics, textile
machines, sewing machines, machinery
for the foodstuff and dainties indus-
tries, machines for the refrigeration
and chemical industries, power machi-
nes, equipment for the mining and
heavy industries, gears, special machi-
nes, fine mechanics, testing machines,
electrotechnics ? radiotechnics, me-
tallurgy and materials, industrial acces-
sories and auxiliaries, chemico-tech-
nical products, vehicles, building in-
dustry, agricultural machines and im-
plements, foreign collective exhibi-
tions, machines for graphic industries
(in Buchgewerbehaus).
The Leipzig Fair in
Autumn 1950
recorded 5,918 exhibitors, which is
11 percent more than in the previous
year, and was visited by about 87,000
businessmen from all the world. The
number of purchasers from overseas
was larger than in 1949. The business
actually done resulted in a widened
international exchange of goods and

This Fair Branch mc ludes manu-
facturers of world-wide reputation,
such as Porze I la dmanufacture
Meissen, or the Thuringian porce-
iain works of Plaue, flmenau, von
'Ichierholz, Graf von Henneberg,
lutschenreuther, lust to mention
a few names. The table sets and
figurative china proilliced by these
firms were a surprising embodiment
of modern style in material and
decoration. Special attention should
be paid by plastics like the
-Alchimisl-, "'Group of Hunts-
men", -Napoleon-, -Moor with
White Horse", which worked in a
'itrictly classic genre, gave an im-
pression of German artistic china.
At the Leipzig Fair in Spring 1951,
great Model Fashion Parades will again
be organised with the participation of
leading German and foreign fashion
houses and manufacturers of ladies'
dresses and fashion accessories, fashion
schools, renowned firms of the fur
branch, and producers of boots and
leather-ware. The Fashion Parades will
represent a cross section of German
fashion work with a view to the

The newly developed outboarder
"Quirt" (75 c. c., 2 HP) may be used
as a star or outboard motor. The pro-
peller carrier of the engine is shaped
to answer streamline requirements.
Exhaust and cooling water supply are
mounted to the propeller carrier. The
special kind of engine suspension
enables the motor to be privotted by
350 . The propeller is provided with
a safety pin breaking the drive connec-
tion on overload. The accelerator may
be operated by a turning handle. It
is equipped with advanced and re-
tarded ignition device and asiures
plain operation of the motor.

that the plugs may he read-

the seat. The operating
wheel gives the light con-
trol cock an outer appear-
ance similar to that of
slide valves. When turning
the hand wheel, the plug is
lifted from the seat hy the
first revolutions, so that it
may be reset during the
further revolutions. The
last revolutions serve to
press the turned plug clown

Honing Machine
The speed of the honing reamer is
steplessly adjustable by means of a
PIV gear. The working table is hy-
draulically lifted. The honing reamer
also makes an axial movement in an
adjustable number of short strokes,
which is this superimposed to the table
movement ancl produces a surface of
hest superfinish. The honing reamer
may he readjusted by means of a hand-
wheel mounted at the operator's stand,
a coupling adjustable limiting the ad-
justing roce. The machine is designed
for honing bores of 6 to 55 mm diameter.
Refrigerators
T he household refrigerators have
120, 150 or 200 litres capacity. Re-
frigeration is effected by means of an
economising compressor driving by
electric motor. Commercial refrigera-
tors have 300, 360, 600, or 1100 litres
capacity. The refrigerators with 360
and 600 litres capacity have two eco-
nomising compressors and two sepa-
rate cooling chambers. The 1100 litre
refrigerator is equipped with one ma-
chine, and has two compartments
sealed smell-proof from each other.
All refrigerators are connectet to one
plug box only.

Dividing Beam Warping Machine
This modern machine was developed
with a view to the latest high-speed
warp looms. Tho capacity of the 30"
dividing beam, 400 mm flange diameter,
is about 85 kg. The beam is actuated
by a lowering and advancing device.
Remarkable features are the firm bear-
ing of the deviding beam on both sides
as well as the new frame construction.
The machine embodies all advantages
of modern warping machines.
Ice Cream Freezer
Fully enclosed type of freezer, in
which the composition is automatically
frozen and loosened up simultaneously.
Tho pre-cooled, elastic ice cream is
hardened at 20" in moulds in the
hardening chamber built to the freezer.
The freezer-hardening plant and ma-
chinery aro constructed in one block,
so that the plant may be erected with-
out special mounting work.
