SIGNIFICANT PSYCHOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES DURING THL QUARTER

NOTE: To supplement its annual report on the "status of the national
psychological efforts' as of June 30, 1952, the Psychological
Strategy Board has been requested to submit to the President and
the National Security-Council quarterly progress reports consti=
tilting "not necessarily a full status report, ... but a statement
of significant developments during the.quartero" In addition to
progress in PSH planning activities, the quarterly report should
cover "significant psychological activities during the quarter, and
an evaluation thereof?" (Reference: PS1b E-3, June 5,g 1952.9 corn=
taining communications from , Executive
Secretary, Rational Security Council, to the Director, Psychological
Strategy Hoard.) The assistance of the Departments of State and
Defense, the CIA, and ODMS is indispensable to the preparation of
an adequate progress report, particularly with reference to the
matter 'underlined aboveo

In view of the deadline (November 1) for submission of the
rirst quarterly report by the Board to the President and the NEC,
it is requested that the response to this questionnaire be made
available to the staff of the PSB by October 10, 19520
The response to this questionnaire should be briefer, than the
,orresponding material which was submitted for inclusion in the
annual status report referred to above. It should not contain
detailed budgetary or performance statistics.

psychological impact, including informational activities, should
be included. Particular attention should be given to new
activities; to cases in which there has been a change in the
level or character of activity, or in methods; or to cases in
which there has been a change in the effect of the activity due
to changes in surrounding circumstances.)
