Location: 27 Ja rc h 1950 25) 25X1 1 blueprint The Faurei pumping station is in the vicinity of the J?aurei railroad junction on the Luzau-Faurei-braila-Galatz railroad trunk line about 100 meters west of the Faurei railroad station. 25X1 2. Luildings, layout, installations: as The pumping house is an old one-story brick building of 1.4 x 8 x 6 meters. Two piston pumps of the Worthington type with a pressure of 30 atmospheres, operating 206 in tons per 24 hours, are installed there. The two pumps are driven by an electric motor. They are auxiliary pumps for the Laiooi- uernavoda-Constanta trunk pipe line. b. The workshop building, 14 x 6 x 6 meters, is an? old one- story brickwork house about 15 meters west of the pump house. Pipe line repair work is done here and valves are reconditioned. c. The boilerhouse, 14 x 8 x 4.5 meters (height of walls exolu- ding roof), which was still under construction in the Fall of 1948, is about 200 meters east of the pump house. The brickwork was completed, but roof and equipment were lacking. Steam boilers for calefaction of the pipe line will be installed there. Calefaction is necessary as, in winter, Fauri is a cri- tical section of the Ploesti-Cernavoda-Constanta pipe line. Pre- viously,in mid-winter, the Luzau pumping; station had to operate with an additional pressure of 20 atmospheres to press the oil which became viscous in the cold, through the pipe. This heating installation was constructed on order of the Soviets. d. A refinery is under construction 15 meters east of the boilerhouse. The brickwork of the brick building was completed but the roof ng in the Fall of 1948. some refining. installations are in stock In oest . e. The tanks of the station are arranged in two groups.. ~:,ne consists of four, 1,000--eu.m. tanks which are 20 meters apart CLASSIFICATION 61PChZT This doccr-ant is ne:etby regraded to CONFIL: ` 3 " danc? with the totter cu 1 u:{:.io; cr 1978 from the Director C.?er~;,Id ;' e;;:gence to the the Urited States. These 2,000-ou.m. tanks are 25 meters apart. All tanks rest on concrete bases extending about 1 meter above ground. f. The loading platform, about 150 meters long, parallels the railroad line at a 5-meter distance. e'en railroad t~nk cars can be loaded at the same time (see ,Lnnex). Another minor pipe, about 2.5 em in diameter, throu.~_?h which stear is to circulate, was projected as pipe line hoatinc system. The latter pipe is to be installed within the former one. C orsment The pump station described by this report belongs to the baicoi Luzau-Cernavoda-Constanta pipe line*. it is about 130 km from Laicoi, the statiin point of the pipe line, and 170 km from Constanta, the terminal of the pipe line. another pipe line branching off in b'auA runs via Galati to the :soviet Danube port of I eni . This pipe line was constructed by :iumania after the war by order of the oviets to deliver oil to the 6oviet union. 1 :snnex: i..lueprint, I-umping. atation in raurei.
