SUBJECT . Resignation as Chairman, Fine Arts
Commission
1. Please accept my resignation as Chairman, Fine
Arts Commission, as of 20 April 1978. I will chair my
final meeting of the Commission on that day and, hopefully,
tie up a number of loose ends before stepping aside.
2. I have enjoyed the opportunity to participate in
this unique enterprise, and I want to thank you and your
colleagues in the Office of Logistics for your sympathetic
understanding and support of the FAC and its objectives.

1. Minutes of 29 June 1978 Mee1in STATINTL
Minutes were approved as written. -
2. Results of Donovan's Bust Pedestal Balloting
reported results of the balloting to
refinish e onovan Bust pedestal. They were three to keep
as is, seven for satin black, two for natural and three
abstentions. LSD was notified of the results and the pedes-
tal had been refinished in satin black before the meeting.

3. Medals Display
displayed a mock-up of a

use glass in place of plastic for the cover. The two tier
arrangement was also accepted. volunteered thatTATINTL

4. Reconsider decision to move George Washington Letter
The Commission voted unanimously to reverse its
decision of 1 March 1978 and not move the George Washington
Letter. The Letter will remain in its present location as
a permanent display (adjacent to the Carpool Location Map).
5. Bulletin Board Poster Standarization ,
TATINTL presented their views on
bulletin boards stating that the problem was more in items
selected for posting, maintenance and lighting rather than
graphic standardization. Most posters produced for Agency
TATINTL display are produced by DDA Graphic Shop and
they can easily be contro e . e sub-committee will pre-
pare a draft reply to OP for the Acting Chairman who will
recommend a meeting be held between OP and the FAC to dis-
cuss the problems stated above.

6. Stairwell Foreign-Numerals
recounted a meeting with
DDA, who recommen e using the foreign numeral appearing
in Headquarters stairwells in other Agency buildings. A

7. Lighting Improvement at Elevator Core Maps

focal points of interest and deserve a better display.

8. Repainting of Auditorium
reported that the FAC was requested tATINTL
advise L on re aintin the Auditorium. Most of the mem ers,

concurrence, The FAC recommended that the bottom
discs be repainted. The blue disc behind the stage will be
repainted only if the "watermark" can be eliminated.

9. Light Switch in Main
Reception Area
reported that the light switch in the
main rec area had been moved and the large painting can
now be lowered.
10. Landscaping Contract
brought the group up-to-date on the land-
scaping pro em. bias protest was lodged against the
Ellen Kay contract and it will probably be late fall or
winter before the situation is cleared up. In the meanwhile,
the Headquarters grounds are being maintained by a small
borrowed group which is doing its best to keep things from
getting out-of-hand.
has invited Mr. Knee, GSA Horticulturalist,
to atten t e next meeting to give the FAC a briefing on
landscaping plans. Everyone-thought this was an excellent
idea.
11. Next Meeting
The next meeting of the FAC will be on 31 August,STATINTL
2:00-3:00 P.M. A notice will be sent out announcing the
location.
