APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. 1. Centralny Zwiazek Spoldzieini Pracy..(CZSP) is im.charge of Poland's 3,000 25X1 producers' cooperatives, which produce 12 percent of the national output iu industry, trasisport, and services. Only two cooperatives operate outside the CZSP administration: the Spoldzielnia Rolnicza, an agricultural cooperative which is subordinate to Centrals Rolnicza Spoldzielnia; and Spoldzielllia Mieszkaniowa, a housing cooperative which is subordinate to Centralny Zwiazek Spoldsielay. 2. CZSP is subordinate to the .Council of Ministers, and its offices are located in various places throughout Warsaw. The main offices are at No. )+ and No. 1+7 Zorawia Street. CZSP is headed by a president and about six deputies, and its organizational structure corresponds to that of a ministry. One of the most important administrative units is the technical division which includes eight or nine departments, each of which is in charge of one of the following branches of the cooperative sector: output is destined for military purposes. c. Textiles. d. Wood products. e. Plastics. f. Paper products. g. Leather products, h. Toys. 3? a. Metal products. b. Chemical products. This is an important branch, since much of the cooperatives' CZSP and its cooperatives employ 300,000 persons. Formerly there were abou s the administrative staff was cut. The greater part of the cut in manpower applied to hired workers,.who constitute about 20 percent of the employees in the production sector. 5OO 000 persons employed but several cooperatives were merged or abolished an 1+. The central research and planning office (Centralise Biuro Studjow i Projektow), which is directly dubordinate to the CZSP president, is one of the CZSP institutions. It was establiphed in 1954 for the planning and construction of new cooperatives and for the improvement of those in existence. Gdynia, and other towns. The offices employ a staff of nearly 300 persons, of whom about 100 are engineers. Recently, the building projects have been limited to small -houses which do not require an outlay of more than two million zlotys. Some producers' cooperatives are subordinate, to the CZSP through voivodship offices (Wojewodskie Oddzialy S.F.), while other large and important enterprises are connected to the cnetral institution through national organizations set up for this purpose: a. National union of cooperatives for folk handicraft and art objects (Centrals Przemyslu Ludowego i Artystycznego - CPLiA), located at No. 7 or 9 Rudkowskiego Street in Warsaw. b. National union of cooperatives for clothing manufacturing (Krajowy Zwiazek Wlokienniczo Odziezowy), located at No. 13 Elektoralna Street in Warsaw. c. National union of transport cooperatives (Krajowy Zwiazek Transportowy). d. National union of sea-fishing cooperatives (Krajowy Zwiasek Rybolostwa Morskiego), located in Gdynia. The following are producers' cooperatives: a. Hydro-Chemja, chemical cooperative, located at the corner of Marchlewskiego and Sienna Streets in Warsaw, The cooperative employs more than 200 workers, and the major part of its produce is destined for the Ministry of Defense. b. Spoldzielnia Bronz Dekoracyjny, handicraft cooperative, located at No. 55 Chorza Street in Warsaw. The cooperative employs about 80 workers, and manufactures and installs decorative metal work. It carried out the decorative work at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, The House of Parliament, the Council of State, the Council of Ministers, and the Central Committee of the Polish Communist Party, c. Kalwarja Zebraydowska, furniture cooperative, is located in one of the suburbs of Krakow and employs nearly 300 workers.
