E.- The city was clean and a lot of traffic was observed in its streets and parks.
Transportation is provided mainly by trolley-buses and trolley-cars driven by
tivomen. Some streets had been up for the placing of gas pipes.
the people of Russia had not privately owned houses. Now, however, 25X1
they can build their own house, provided they have the money necessary for this.
They can further acquire a privately owned car.
A glass 25X1
of beer of inferior quality or an ice-cream sold by open-air shops, cost two rubles.
Clothing and shoes are of very bad quality
The 25X1
workers collect 800-y00 rubles monthly and low-ranking employees 90U-1000 rubles.
There are no unemployeed people, as, if there is no work in a city, those interested
should seek work in another city, either as workers or farmers. This is the .reason
why no unemployment subsistance is granted. till citizens pay rent to the State, for
the house used by them. The total of the houses is unsanitary and filthy. The
furniture of the houses constists of that absolutely necessary, viz: a bed, a table
and very few chairs. There was no store selling furniture, to be seen in the city.
